The Editor's Bit

Nobody entered our Cover Competition last month! Just in case you were wondering, it was the statue of Kokadorus on Amstelveld. This month, all you have to do is let me know where the statue on the cover is located and you could get an Honourable Mention on this page in the next edition of the Stun. As usual, you can send in your entry, contact details are on page 2, or tell me in person if you see me in a bar somewhere around town.

My friend Alan, who featured in the very first Stun, was back in Amsterdam for the first time since 2008 because our mutual friend Danny was also in town, so we had to go out for a few drinks together. I first met Alan 40 years ago in Nafplion in Greece, where we were both picking oranges. Alan and Danny lived on the same street in Farnborough then met up again in the infamous Fat City on O.Z.Voorburgwal in the early 80s before Alan went to Greece. Danny was born in the same hospital as me and spent his early life in my home town, although we never met then. The first time was here in Amsterdam, having an after work drink with my brother Bill, both still in paint stained overalls, and that was before I knew that Alan and Danny had history. Isn’t life strange!

Frank is still on holiday but he managed to send us a shorter than usual Being Frank on Football from his phone, and Terry Mann is back writing for the Stun, coincidently about football this month. Terry said he’d love to hear from our readers, especially late at night when he’s practising on his instruments; you can contact him at www.fb.com/terrymanband.

All of our usual stuff is here, including a four-page Gig List so enjoy your Stun, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
