The Editor's Bit

Despite my clues, nobody came up with an answer to last month’s Cover Competition. My photo might have made it look bigger than it is in reality because it’s quite small and is on one of the pontoons of Rederij P. Kooij next to the Allard Pierson Museum, across from Rokin.

As it’s June, I decided to put a statue of Summer on the cover, but where is it? I’ll give you a clue; along with Spring, Autumn and Winter, it overlooks a lawn in the middle of a place you have to pay to enter, usually. If you know the location, let me know and you could get an Honourable Mention on this page,

There are no tangible prizes in the Cover Competition, but it’s a different story in our Premier Predictions League, sponsored by Coco’s Outback, because general manager Joey has already given me the prize of €60 in food &/or drink vouchers.

Most competitions don’t allow entries from people connected to the organiser, but we always make an exception for our Premier Predictions League; the more, the merrier! Martyn, who makes our crosswords, looked like a winner, until Manchester United moved up to third and he dropped down a place. Our football correspondent Frank only managed 14th place and Stun proof reader Josie came last, so we can’t be accused of favouritism.

The winner of the Amsterdam Stun Premier Predictions League 2022/2023, and the prize of €60 in food and/or drink at Coco’s Outback. is Everton supporter Trish Steele, who has absolutely no connection with the Amsterdam Stun, apart from being the daughter of our football pundit’s cousin.

I went for a drink in Molly Malone’s with Feargal, former landlord of the Dubliner, the first Irish pub in Amsterdam, and his son Ferdia, who were in town to see Bruce Springsteen. They didn’t go, but that’s another story, so I’ll finish up by telling you that all of our usual stuff is here, so enjoy your Stun.
