The Editor's Bit
The nights are getting longer and I only just made it out in time to take the cover photo before the sun went down, so for this month’s Cover Competition, all you have to do is tell me where I took the photo. Contact details are on page two, or you can tell me in person if you meet me in a bar, but if that’s the case, make sure I write it down because I can be a bit forgetful. The correct answer will get you an Honourable Mention in this column next month.
Paula knew the answer to last month’s Cover Competition as soon as I delivered that Stun to Café Batavia (I wrote it down) and then JJ sent an SMS shortly after that, so Honourable Mentions go to Paula and JJ for correctly identifying last month’s cover location as Excalibur!
They wanted to hold a benefit night in Café Oporto to raise money to help one of their customers with his fight against cancer and landlady Janice has wanted a Quiz Night in the bar for ages, so with the help of quizmaster Josie, they had a Charity Music Quiz and Raffle on a Monday night in October. Even though they were tested in the afternoon, neither of the microphones worked when it came to show time, so Josie struggled to get herself heard above the cackling crowd during the first half of the quiz. Luckily, the second half went much smoother with Josie having Brian’s backing to repeat the questions if we didn’t hear her the first time.
Half of my team didn’t show up and Lesley got caught in traffic so she missed the first few questions, but that didn’t stop us from winning; we’re good together!
Not everybody takes quizzing as serious as me; Jennie, who took the photo above, told me that she answered Rod Stewart to every question and ended up with null point!
Fiona insisted on having a photo with me at her leaving party in Molly Malone’s; more photos, without me, are on pages 16 & 17.
No crossword this month; even with four extra pages, I had too many photos, but all of our usual stuff is here, so enjoy your Stun.
