The Editor's Bit
We had two correct entries come in by email for last month’s Cover Competition so Steve Currie and Wolfling/Heidi both get an Honourable Mention for knowing that the Torentje is located on the Amstel. Extra kudos to Wolfling for identifying it as part of the former head office of the Bensdorp Chocolate Factory, not that I asked for so much detail.
For this month’s Cover Competition, all I want to know is: Where is it? If you know, tell me! Contact details are on page two, or you can tell me in person if you meet me in a bar, but if that’s the case, make sure I write it down because I can be a bit forgetful. The first person with the correct answer will get an Honourable Mention in this column next month.
The lack of trams on Rozengracht has made visits to Maloe Melo difficult, but nothing will stop me from seeing my old friend Jur, so for now, I have to travel via Leidseplein to get there. It’s going to take until February 2027 before trams 13 & 17 and the night buses are back to normal, so it looks like a long walk home (or a taxi) if I want to stay after midnight.
While I was out on Kings Day, I dropped into Café Corso to take a photo of the bar crew, but veterans Eric and Mario were tired after a long shift, so Mario took this one of me with Arend instead.
You’ve already seen a full page of Kings Day photos on Page Three and you can find even more on pages 10-13 & 19.
That’s it for now; all of our usual stuff is here, apart from the crossword, so enjoy your May edition of the Amsterdam Stun.
