The Editor's Bit
We didn’t get any entries for our last Cover Competition, which didn’t surprise me; I haven’t been out much lately, so very little encouraging readers to have a guess from me. That, or everybody is suffering Torentje fatigue. I know I am; I got it wrong, and I took the photo! The correct location is Hotel Doelen.
No Cover Competition this month, and I’m giving the torentjes a break to go a bit more seasonal. I know it’s early to have a Christmas tree on the cover, but blame Euronext and De Bijenkorf for that; who else puts a tree up at the beginning of November? At least it meant I could get away from the torentjes.
If the last couple of months are anything to go by, there’s a good chance there won’t be a December edition of the Stun this year. It’s getting harder for me to drag myself out to aimlessly wander around bars, something I feel the Stun is all about. All of the photos in this Stun were either taken while I was out delivering the last Stun or special events I was invited to, so if you want to see a December Stun, give me an excuse to come out.
One such event was Sputnik Weazel playing in Mulligans; I know Nik from when I drank in the Rodos Bar in the 80s, so it was good to see him reunited with his old Weazels band mates Fast Eddie and Alan Weazel. See page 18 for photos of the band and their fans.
Whenever I see Kirsty and Matt out with their daughter Millie, I always take a family photo, but this was the first one taken in the evening. Matt’s band were headlining at Toekomstmuziek! More photos on page 14.
Jur was celebrating Maloe Melo being 30 years in its current location; before I could get my coat off, Rob got me to take a photo of him with Nachtburgermeester Freek Wallagh, Jur and a lady whose name I forgot to write down. More photos on pages 12 & 13.
Apologies if I didn’t take any photos in your bar this month, but you’re always welcome to send in your own photos; the more the merrier, and it makes it easier for me.
Most of our usual stuff is here, so enjoy your November edition of the Amsterdam Stun.
