The Editor's Bit
There’s no Cover Competition this month, but how would you describe the art installation that has appeared in place of the spaceman on Rembrandtplein? I did read the plaques on the plinth, but the words didn’t sink in: It’s a butt plug! Or have I been spending too much time in the seedier side of Amsterdam?
After midnight on Paddy’s Day in the Blarney Stone, Mairead came up with a great idea for future Stun Covers: Bar cats or dogs! I loved the idea, but when I sobered up, I couldn’t think of any bars that still have a resident cat to catch the mice. I hope they’re still around and just avoid being seen in the evening when it’s crowded, which is understandable; who wants to be mauled by a bunch of drunks? Do you know any bars that still have a resident cat? If you do, let me know and I’ll try to take a photo, although cats are well known for not doing what you want.
Dogs are a different matter; they can be more sociable and aren’t usually left on their own overnight, which is probably why more dogs than cats have appeared in the Stun.
Talking of Paddy’s Day, there are more photos on pages 6, 7, 14, 22 & 23.
Susie's Saloon couldn't celebrate their 30th Anniversary due to the Covid lockdown, so Lars made the 35th a party never to forget, although the open bar may have made some memories a bit foggy.
I couldn't make it on the Saturday night so I missed Susie, who the bar is named after, but Big Franky from CultTV was there and he sent me a photo of her. You can see Franky's show at: www.salto.nl/programma/cult-tv
The party was still in full-swing when I got there on Sunday evening, so I took loads of photos, most of which you can see on pages 16, 17 & 18, although Yuri insisted on a photo with me, or else!
I think that's it! All of our usual stuff is here, like Terry, gigs, jokes, football and loads of photos, so enjoy your April edition of the Stun.
